I Meet Our Team

Rev. Sam Chan

- Board Chairman

By God’s wonderful grace, in 1988 I was called to serve in Europe together with my late wife as full-time missionaries and then to pastor two Chinese churches in Vancouver. I was also given the opportunity to participate in theological education in Vancouver. In 2015 I came to know K-PACT International’s Christian Center in Kupong, Indonesia. Through running a Christian Theological School and the House of Hope Children home, children are provided with good Christian education and holistic care with the goal of making the children disciples of Jesus Christ. I am convinced that this is a very effective strategy to make disciples of the children and young people. Since then, I keep going back every year, bringing short-term mission teams with me. I pray that God will use K-PACT Canada to motivate the churches in Canada to go and bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to the 714 unreached people groups in Indonesia.

Pastor Andrew Yu

- Board Vice Chairman

My knowledge of Indonesia was very limited to the Indonesian maids in Hong Kong and some Indonesian snacks. In addition, I have never been to Indonesia before and I have never participated in any overseas short-term mission. In 2019, when I was studying in Canada Chinese School of Theology Vancouver, I have the opportunity to hear Pastor Sam Chan’s sharing of his experience in Indonesian short-term missions and his love for the people in Indonesia, which makes me interested in short-term missions gradually. Therefore, I made a promise with Pastor Sam that I would find time for joining a mission trip with him. God is indeed wonderful, he allows my wife who has just started work for less than a year in her position to get a holiday, which is a sign that I have to go to. Within the week of the mission, I saw with my own eyes how the brothers and sisters in Indonesia truly love God as their Lord and dedicate themselves to the Lord. I also see how Indonesia needs the gospel, and I also witnessed God's amazing acts in Indonesia. After the short-term mission, God once again led me to join the newly established K-Pact Canada Gospel Mission Association, giving me the opportunity to further support the Indonesian ministry in Vancouver. May God’s glory fill Indonesia!

Rev. Anthony Yeung

- General Secretary

Sharing the gospel has been my passion since I first became a Christian in my teenage years. In the year 1988, I left my accounting career to be a missionary sent from Canada to Macau in response to God’s calling, which marks the beginning of my full-time ministry life, seeing myself always a learner as I serve. While I had served in various capacities related to church planting and pastoral ministry in Greater Vancouver as well as overseas, my ministry recipients were limited to mostly Chinese people, my own kinsmen whom I have always felt obligated for the gospel, in contrarily, paying minimal attention on global mission. It was not until the year 2015 the Holy Spirit had convicted me that the gospel is meant for the whole world, the Great Commission of Christ is to preach the gospel and to make disciples of all nations. At that time, I was introduced to Peter and Sarianne Trinh of K-PACT International through Rev. Sam Chan. I was enlightened by the ministry that they have been called to do in Indonesia. Ever since my first STM trip to Indonesia in 2016, an indescribable compassion has replaced the previous unconcerned attitude for the people there. Throughout the last several years, I have witnessed the wonderful move of God bringing about open doors for ministries, especially through Christian education for the local youth and children, that God’s Word are being learned at young age and spiritual growth has been developed in many lives among the poor, through Christian relationship and genuine caring. The consecutive STM experiences in the past years have contributed much to the affirmation of God’s calling to us in the establishment of K-PACT Canada by faith, in response to the challenging need of the gospel among the Unreached People Groups in Indonesia, as we commit ourselves to the Lord doing ministry in His way, by His power and wisdom. May the Name of Christ be manifested in the harmonious endeavor of “Indonesia for God’s Glory”.

Jane Phuah

- Director of Prayer Ministry

I was born and raised in Asia and came to Canada with my family for over 30 years ago. I have been involved in serving the Church for a good part of my Christian life, and I particularly enjoy serving in the Caring Ministry.

In 2018, Rev. Sam Chan came to share his Indonesia missionary in my church fellowship and followed with K-PACT Indonesia missionaries came to visit Canada , during their visit, I have the opportunity to have fellowship with them to further understand ,their sharing impressed me deeply and made me want to learn more about this ministry.

In March of 2019, Missionary Peter Trinh from K-PACT USA, as well as brothers and sisters from the missionary, once again shared their experience & progress of the missions in Indonesia , On that day, I singed up for the Indonesian short term mission team. From May 1 to 11, 2019, it was my first time to embark on a short-term mission to Indonesia. During my short-term mission, I was very touched and impressed, I learned that , K-PACT Indonesia adopted orphans from very young age until the age they finished high school ,the young children are sensible and learn to fear God . They were many people in Indonesia who have never heard the Gospel, let alone Jesus Christ our Saviour .

When I was invited to join K-PACT Canada, I realized from Pastor Anthony Yeung that they had prayed for me for a while. I am willing to obey God’s will and join K-PACT Canada Mission Association, I believe this is the work God wants me to learn in caring and loving those unreached people that is far away from us, so that the name of the Lord can be spread.

Psalm 67: 1-2: May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, [through K-PACT] so that your way may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.

- Director of Mission Relations

I have always had a passion to share the love of Christ and help others grow in their relationship with God. In my youth and young adult years, God used my gift of music to serve and minister in the church. Later in my adult life, He expanded my heart for ministry through opportunities to serve in youth, young adult, and ladies’ leadership ministries.

Over the past decade, I sensed God preparing me for something beyond the walls of the church. That new direction unfolded in October 2023—Indonesia. Before that trip, I knew very little about the country and had never imagined visiting it. But that first mission trip became a defining moment. I was deeply impacted by the joy on the children’s faces—despite having so little—and by the steadfast faith and dedication of the local ministry partners. Their example stirred my spirit, and the Holy Spirit made it clear that I was meant to be part of this mission work. Since then, I have returned to Indonesia four more times and will continue to go as long as the Lord wills.

One of the greatest blessings from these mission trips has been meeting new friends and forming lifelong relationships with brothers and sisters in Christ. My desire is to make a lasting spiritual impact and build meaningful connections with the children and communities I serve. I’ve even begun learning Indonesian songs to minister to local churches and various groups. I still have much to learn, but I am grateful for the opportunity to step into missions alongside my dad (Pastor Sam), and I look forward to all that God will continue to do through me in this calling.
